Heavy in body and mind
Chris spent close to fifteen years eating poorly and drifting in and out of the gym, never quite building anything that lasted. He reached 108 kilos and found himself struggling just to get up the stairs, which worried him as a father of young children. He was carrying the weight physically and mentally, and that combination is what finally pushed him to act.
As you get older, you start to lose the ability to use your body and I didn’t want to get to a point where I struggled to climb stairs.Chris
Taking on Spartan
The push came from his training group, who talked him into signing up for a Spartan obstacle race. He also had a pact with his twin brother: enter their fifties as the fittest they had ever been. Chris ran the Spartan course in Hong Kong the year before and failed four obstacles. He came to ATP with one goal: go back and finish what he started, leaner and stronger than before.

But the great thing about ATP is that they made me feel comfortable and there was a clear focus on setting goals.Chris
A harder look in the mirror
Chris walked in thinking he was already in decent shape. A photo from his introductory session changed his mind: he caught sight of it on a screen at reception and barely recognised himself. That moment reset his expectations for what the programme could do for him, and training built around clear goals from day one kept him accountable to them.
Finishing the job
The change showed. Chris’s wife noticed the difference in his physique before he fully clocked it himself, and this time round he got through every obstacle he had set out to clear on the Spartan course.
When you feel good about yourself and see the progress you’ve made, it boosts your confidence and has a positive effect on your overall wellbeing.Chris

My physique has changed a lot. I’ve become leaner and stronger, and my wife has noticed the difference too.Chris
Chris no longer worries about the stairs. He tells anyone starting out what he wishes he’d known: trust the process, stay consistent, and the results follow.
