How much is a personal trainer in Hong Kong?
Prices vary between commercial gyms, freelance trainers and private studios, and between single sessions and full programmes. Our guide to personal training costs in Hong Kong sets out typical rates. We go through ATP's options and prices with you at your free consultation.
Is personal training worth it?
It is worth it if you get results you would not get on your own, and you keep them. Look for a coach who plans your daily routine and food as well as your sessions, and measures your progress. Our guide covers how to choose a good personal trainer.
Starting out
What happens at the free consultation?
A sit-down chat at the studio with a senior coach. We look at your goals, your schedule and what has worked before, then recommend a coach. No payment and no commitment. Book it on our enquiries page.
I have never trained. Can I start?
Yes. Many of our clients are complete beginners. Your first session starts with a movement assessment, so your plan starts from where you are.
I am over 50, or I have an old injury. Is it safe?
Our clients include people in their 50s and 60s, and people who have had knee surgery. We check how you move first and work around injuries with your physio's guidance. Please check with your doctor before you start a new exercise programme.
Can I choose a male or female coach?
Yes. Tell us your preference at the free consultation. Gigi Yung and Maja Holder both coach at the Central studio. See our female personal trainer page.
Results
How long until I see results?
It depends on where you start, how often you train and how closely you follow the plan. Your plan runs for 12 weeks, with progress reviews every 4 to 6 weeks, so you can see what is changing. See body transformation.
How do you measure progress?
We track body composition with skinfold calipers, body weight, exercise performance and photos, plus any health markers you choose to share. Your coach goes through them with you every 4 to 6 weeks, and you have a strategy meeting each quarter.
How many sessions a week?
We usually recommend about 3 hours a week at the studio, planned around your work and travel.
Practical
Where are you, and which MTR exit?
2nd Floor, Li Dong Building, 9 Li Yuen Street East, Central. We are about 250 metres from Central MTR, Exit D1 or D2. Walk towards Queen's Road Central and on to Li Yuen Street East. See our Central studio page.
What are your opening hours?
Monday to Friday 6am to 10pm, Saturday 7am to 6pm, Sunday 8am to 5pm.
Do you have showers?
Yes. Showers, towels and changing space are on site.
Can I train at lunchtime?
Yes. Lunchtime sessions are common with our Central clients. Sessions last 60 minutes, and with showers on site you can go straight back to the office.
What happens when I travel?
Your plan is built around your trips. You can message your coach between sessions and log food and activity in the app, which syncs with Fitbit and MyFitnessPal.
