Chompoo was able to use ATP Personal Training’s unique D.N.A. Coaching to smash through her plateau

"Somehow I became a morning person and I am loving how it allows me to have time to enjoy the sunrise and morning coffee."

Although she played regular tennis, Chompoo never thought of herself as fit, and never dreamed that she could have a body with visible muscles. She felt that she had reached a plateau in terms of her strength, so she took her friend’s recommendation and turned to ATP Personal Training.

Why did you decide that now was the right time to get started?

I had been exercising for a while, playing tennis, but I wanted to explore personal training and see if I could build muscles and become stronger.  A friend of mine would rave about how great her experience with ATP Personal Training was, so I knew that it would be the best choice for me if I wanted to reach my goal.

What has been the biggest difference in your life since working with ATP Personal Training?

The biggest difference for me is that I have established a routine based on the D.N.A. (Daily Routine, Nutrition, Activity) Coaching.  D.N.A. provides me with a framework for a great lifestyle that I truly appreciate.  I have developed habits like going for walks that I never did before and it’s really enjoyable as well as good for me.

Having a dedicated coach to help me focus on my goals has had a huge influence too.  They has supported me far beyond what ever could have expected and I am super grateful.

How would you compare yourself between day one and today in terms of fitness, mindset, physique and health?

I’ve progressed A LOT! I am able to control my muscles more and understand the proper technique for various movements. My ATP Coach has supported me throughout the whole process to increase my fitness and keep me focused on my goals. I’m in the best shape of my life at the moment physically and I love my shoulder and back muscles!

I’ve actually changed a lot. I take care of my well-being more. Somehow I became a morning person and I am loving how it allows me to have time to enjoy the sunrise and morning coffee.

Has anything surprised you about the process?

Yes, I was surprised to find out that it is actually more of a mental challenge than a physical one.  Now that I have come this far, I need to find the right balance to sustain my new lifestyle while at the same time having a routine that I can stick with indefinitely.

Daily Routine: Make the most of the mornings

Chompoo became a regular morning person during the process:

I am loving how it allows me to have time to enjoy the sunrise and morning coffee.”

There is strong evidence to support the health benefits of living in sync with your circadian rhythms, in particular with how it impacts sleep quality later in the day.

Nutrition: Consistency is the real challenge

“I was surprised to find out that it is actually more of a mental challenge than a physical one.”

Being consistent with your diet trumps being intense! Scoring 7/10 or 8/10 every day of the week trumps being perfect for 2-3 days followed by falling off the wagon.

Activity: Master the movements

I’ve progressed A LOT! I am able to control my muscles more and understand the proper technique for various movements

Correct lifting technique for all of our clients is a non-negotiable and provides the foundation of the process. Put simply, there is no point in increasing the loading until the movement is being performed in a safe and efficient manner.

What are your top tips for others who may be about to start their fitness journey?

  1. When things get tough, think about why you started (this was great advice from my ATP Coach and it has helped me a lot.)
  2. Lean on your Coach, be open about any struggles and share them.  I am always honest with my coach about any difficulties I am facing. It really helps to talk and have someone who understands your journey.
  3. Focus on your gains and be positive.  Some days will be harder than others and sometimes you might even think you haven’t made any progress.  Always remind yourself how far you’ve come and focus on the positive rather than your doubts.
  4. Have clear goals. If you know exactly what you are aiming for it is easier to get there.
  5. Enjoy the process! This is a good thing that you are doing for yourself, so enjoy it.
