I was looking for a personal trainer for two main reasons: first, as my kids were getting older, it was getting harder and harder to do things like carrying them (especially upstairs), run around with them, and push them on the bicycle. Secondly, my clothes were getting tighter and I just wasn’t feeling like myself. I wanted to lose around 10kg and reduce the fat on my belly to be healthy again.
I am in much better shape in all aspects! My weight is basically back to where it was in my college days but my waist size is smaller and my strength levels are higher! I’ve visibly gained muscle while losing all the weight I wanted.
I have more energy throughout the day and I look like a completely different person. The little things that you generally don’t notice actually do make a huge difference. A work colleague commented that I had good posture and I laughed because, before working with ATP, my posture was terrible. After the comment, I noticed that I naturally sit and stand straighter nowadays.
Getting into new habits and revising my routines. People ask me how hard the diet was and my response is usually that I would not call it a ‘diet’ since I am often eating more than I was before. The food is just different and there is more attention to the mix of foods throughout the day. Again, all the little changes quickly add up. Once you get over the initial hump, you don’t even crave the sweets and snacks – in fact, it does not even appeal anymore at all.
My overall appearance has been a huge change. But all the little things add up like more energy, more positivity, better posture, etc. Even my mood is better in general.
The transformation was actually easier than I thought it would be – the first couple of weeks were difficult with cravings and soreness but as your body adjusts and you start to see results, the whole process feeds on itself and grows. You start to feel results quickly and start to see them in week 3 to 4. Once you get over the initial hump, it becomes second nature and habit just takes over. Just trust the process and your coach.
