self-care, but for others it can be an upsetting reminder that they are getting older and can no longer bear children.<\/p><p>Hiring a coach who can help you identify and understand your symptoms and the changes occurring in your body can help you not only to feel less alone and less overwhelmed, but also to alleviate some of the physical symptoms that can be debilitating for so many.<\/p><p>Hot flushes, for example, are experienced by an estimated 75% of perimenopausal women.<\/p><p>Although menopause itself is well known, the process actually occurs in 4 (either regular or irregular) continue and you are considered to be in your reproductive years, although there may be some hormonal changes that show perimenopause is on the way.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-fcef159 elementor-section-boxed data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\"><div class=\"elementor-widget-container\"><p>This is the early stage of menopause and usually occurs 8-10 years before menopause itself.<\/p><p>Perimenopause is characterised by a drop in estrogen levels, and as perimenopause continues the ovaries gradually produce less and less.<\/p><p>Your periods may become irregular or late, and some months you may have none. When you do have a period, menstrual flow may become heavier or lighter and symptoms of PMS can be more pronounced.<\/p><p>You might also start to experience symptoms of menopause such as hot flushes, mood swings or trouble sleeping.<\/p><p>During perimenopause and menopause, cholesterol levels can also go up, making older women more susceptible to heart disease.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-9e46ad2 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"9e46ad2\" data-element_type=\"section\"><div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\"><div menopause until the year has passed.<\/p><p>As your ovaries stop producing eggs, your levels of FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) will increase (you can ask your doctor to test these levels and gauge whether or not you might be nearing menopause).<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-f321232 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"f321232\" data-element_type=\"section\"><div class=\"elementor-container \u2018postmenopausal\u2019.<\/p><p>Finally the hot flushes, disrupted sleep, irritability and other unpleasant symptoms will start to ease.<\/p><p>Your hormones will stabilise at a low level \u2013 you will no longer be able to bear children and there will be no more periods.<\/p><p>But you may be at increased risk of osteoporosis due to a lack of estrogen.<\/p><p>There are many common symptoms experienced by millions of women during perimenopause and menopause.<\/p><p>Some can be triggered by stress, environment and lifestyle \u2013 these include (and there many more):<\/p><ul><li>hot flushes<\/li><li>night sweats<\/li><li>vaginal dryness<\/li><li>change in libido<\/li><li>diminished sleep quality<\/li><li>emotional instability<\/li><li>higher resting heart rate<\/li><li>headaches , joint and muscle aches<\/li><li>forgetfulness<\/li><li>hair loss<\/li><li>weight gain<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-2827901 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"2827901\" Your own menopause is unique to you, but you will share some symptoms with many other women and many of the physical symptoms can be eased or even erased completely with a change of behaviour.<\/p><p>But how do we change our behaviour?
